The wispy method is built on contrast in length and "airiness" between the fans, and that requires a fiber that can be finished thinly without losing its structure. The Essential Collection was intentionally designed for wispy and textured sets. This isn't an "extra" capability of a long-tapered fiber - it's the main reason this geometry exists at all. On a standard, short-tapered fiber you can reproduce a given wispy map, but the result will have nothing to do with the inspiration you saved on Pinterest.
Long taper is a property of the geometry, not a separate product line with a restricted range - Wispy Kiki lashes are available across the full spread of lengths and thicknesses. You choose your parameters as freely as always - the fiber geometry works regardless of the size you pick.
The fiber geometry doesn't change with wear - the effect depends on the shape of the fiber itself, not on how fresh the application is. What changes over the cycle is regrowth and possible thinning, but the "feathery" character of the set stays, for as long as the set holds retention.
Long Taper gives the biggest advantage precisely in volume and volume techniques - that's where the risk of a "heavy", artificial look is highest with a standard fiber. With 1:1 the difference is noticeable, but less critical, because a single fiber has more "space" around it anyway.
