Collection: Lash tweezers

For a lash set you need two tweezers - one for isolating the natural lash, one for making fans. These are not interchangeable tools: they differ in length, grip and purpose. Below I describe what each one is for and how I recognize that a tweezer is fit for work.

Its basic job is separating natural lashes. It has to be longer than the volume tweezer - ours measures, so you isolate even the shortest lashes in the inner corners with precision.

The needle tip gives a secure grip on the thinnest natural lash, with no pain or discomfort for your client. That same precision works on outgrown extensions and on difficult stickie removal - this isn't a tool for isolation only.

It makes the fans, so its closure has to be perfect - a tweezer that doesn't close tightly simply won't pick up a large fan. On light volume you won't feel the difference, but if you care about full customization, you need a tool that will do literally anything on command.

Our volume tweezer has a huge sweet spot and holds fans tightly even at 30:1 with a 0.03 diameter. The tip is engineered so that the fan always has a thin base. The 90° angle sets your hand in a natural position and takes the load off your muscles. I work with it in every technique - pinching, shimmy and rolling.

Both tweezers work at the same time: the isolation one in your non-dominant hand, the volume one in your dominant hand. Our set contains one of each - the essential kit for every lash artist.

Both tweezers have a ruler on the tip. I use it to measure wispies symmetrically and to measure the eye. Without it, the symmetry of a set rests on intuition; with it - on measurable parameters. It's the detail that separates a refined service from an approximate one.

In my ten years of practice I've taken 5–6 clients a day. Hand pain in this industry doesn't come from long hours, but from a badly designed tweezer.

Both tweezers weigh 16 g. That means less tension in the hand and therefore less strain - smooth work from the first to the last client on your schedule. With the Lash Design Volume Tweezer by Wispy Kiki I forgot that hand pain is a lash artist's problem at all.

From the first use. I try to pick up a volume fan with it and I see two things straight away: whether the tweezer closes tightly and whether it supports a long, thin base.

A long fan base is a must-have if you care about a large contact surface with the natural lash and long retention. A short base means less contact - and less contact means shorter retention, no matter what glue you work on.

To start with: two - one for isolation and one for volume. They work at the same time, one in each hand.

If you also work at 0.03 thickness, I recommend buying an additional volume tweezer and dedicating it to that diameter only. Fibers that thin are lace-like work, and it's better to give them their own tool.

A good lash tweezer should weigh between 15 and 18 g. If it's too heavy, it makes non-invasive work of the hand muscles impossible. If it's too light, you lose confidence in your movements.

Both of our tweezers weigh 16 g, and they're perfectly balanced with the weight shifted toward the gripping tip, for even more precision in your work.

The right material for lash tweezers is high-grade steel with a titanium-like finish. This kind of material effectively lightens the tool while significantly increasing its durability. It also allows a diagonal pattern to be embossed into it, which improves the tweezer's stability in the hand.
